SABIC vendor registration

SABIC, the Saudi Basic Industries Corporation, runs supplier registration on SAP Ariba. A new supplier fills in a short self-registration form, waits for SABIC to approve it, then completes a questionnaire in Ariba. SABIC describes three stages: a profile and due-diligence check, a technical qualification that can include a site visit, and onboarding. SABIC also says that finishing registration does not guarantee any business. Questions go to SABIC's supplier call centre on 920029111.

The steps

1. Open SABIC's supplier portal, choose Supplier Registration, then New Registration. Skip this if SABIC has already emailed you an invitation.
2. Fill in the self-registration form. Every field marked with an asterisk is required.
3. Wait for SABIC to approve the request. You then receive an invitation email from SAP Ariba.
4. Create an Ariba Network account, or sign in to an existing one. Add at least one product or service category and one delivery location.
5. Complete the registration questionnaire and submit it within 90 days of the invitation. You can save a draft and message SABIC from the form.
6. SABIC reviews the questionnaire. When it is approved, your status changes to Registered and you receive a confirmation email.
7. SABIC then sets the level of technical qualification, with a site visit if needed. Your SABIC vendor ID comes after this stage.

What it requires

• Company, bank and ownership details, and your group structure
• Your classification and scope of supply: the product and service categories SABIC's buyers search
• SABIC's due-diligence questionnaire, and the documents it asks for inside the portal
• Your VAT registration number and a copy of the VAT certificate, if you are VAT-registered in Saudi Arabia
• SABIC's older checklists also ask for your website, logo and a short marketing statement, and whether you make, stock or represent each product

What the system provides

• A company profile in Arabic and English, as a web page and a PDF, with the marketing statement and logo ready to paste
• A website that shows each product line and says whether you manufacture it, stock it or represent the brand
• The same product names and categories on your site, your profile and the portal, so SABIC's buyers find one consistent company

What we do not claim yet

• We do not register your company on SABIC's portal or fill in its forms. The account and the answers are yours.
• SABIC's older due-diligence programme, run by Achilles, charged a yearly fee for its second stage. SABIC's 2023 guide mentions no fee, and we could not confirm which applies today.
• SABIC publishes no approval time, and we do not claim one.
